Connor Byrnes
MA | Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling (In supervision toward clinical licensure with Theo Meyer)
I believe therapy works best when people feel comfortable enough to be themselves without fear of judgment. My goal is to create a space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported while navigating the challenges that bring them to therapy.
I take a collaborative and humanistic approach to treatment. I focus on meeting clients where they are and building a genuine therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, empathy, and authenticity. I am deeply fascinated by the human condition and the root of behaviors, emotions, and thought patterns. I enjoy helping clients better understand themselves and the experiences that have shaped them. Together, we explore the thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences that may contribute to anxiety, sadness, stress, emotional overwhelm, low motivation, or feeling stuck in life.
I work primarily with adolescents and young adults who are navigating life transitions, relationship stress, burnout, identity concerns, and other emotional or personal challenges. Many of the individuals I work with struggle with racing thoughts, self-doubt, difficulty managing emotions, family or school stress, or feeling disconnected from themselves and others.
My style in session is supportive, conversational, and adaptable to each client’s individual needs. Some sessions may focus on processing emotions and gaining insight, while others may be more structured around coping skills, problem-solving, and building healthier patterns. I primarily draw from Humanistic Therapy while also incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, mindfulness-based strategies, supportive counseling, and trauma-informed approaches when appropriate. I value creating an environment that feels genuine and approachable, and I believe humor can be an important part of helping clients feel comfortable and connected throughout the therapeutic process.
My goal is to help clients build self-awareness, strengthen emotional resilience, and develop practical tools that support lasting growth both inside and outside of therapy.
I accept Aetna, Cigna, Highmark, United/Optum, Quest, & IBX insurances.
