M.Ed | Master of Education in Counseling Psychology

My personal experience migrating to the U.S. from East Africa has allowed me to learn the nuances of navigating two cultures while trying to explore my own identity. The long-term social and emotional implications of this can make it difficult to safely explore and develop an identity that feels true to who you are. Unfortunately, shame and guilt are often at the center of this self-discovery journey. My goal is to encourage self-compassion and help resolve the inner conflicts you may have about yourself and the world.

I provide therapy to adults of all backgrounds who are experiencing: ADHD, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, life transitions, bicultural/multicultural identity, codependency, and mood disorders. I often work with clients on assertive communication, boundary setting in relationships, as well as addressing people-pleasing tendencies.

Together, we can identify the unhelpful patterns that have become barriers in your life and develop a healthier, kinder perspective of yourself. My hope is to normalize mental health conversations and to assist in developing a safe space for individuals to explore their identity, without judgement and full of empathy.

My approach is eclectic with aspects of Psychodynamic Theory, but it is mostly person-centered because I believe in the power that the therapeutic relationship has on personal growth. Additionally, I have received training in MI (Motivational Interviewing), attachment theory, and CT (Cognitive Therapy).

I believe that people have the capacity to change, if they are willing. Seeing that you’ve taken the first step to search for therapists, you’ve already done the hardest part!

I accept Aetna & Cigna Insurances.
