Michelle Callahan

LCSW | Licensed Clinical Social Worker

I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker. I have been a Social Worker for over 20 years. Due to my experience working in diverse areas of social work, I believe it has made me a more resourceful therapist.

I believe in meeting every person exactly where they are on their journey.  Every person is unique and what they come looking for in therapy also takes time, we all heal differently.  I offer a compassionate, empathetic, and client-focused therapy where you can feel safe. No matter how messy or complicated you believe parts of yourself to be, you are welcome here with me. I also understand that the intersectionality of identity factors such as race, gender, socioeconomic status and abilities can attribute to one’s mental, and physical health.

I believe therapy to be a collaborative process. I have a holistic and genuine approach to therapy that combines psychodynamic, trauma informed, client-centered, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral and compassion inquiry informed. I will engage in our sessions but also hold space when you need me to.  I will maintain a space of safety and comfort where one can feel that they can unmask and be present with me, and themselves.  I approach each session with curiosity, non-judgment, and a little bit of humor.

I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I have experience with clients from young adults to golden years. I have experience working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, interpersonal conflict, attachment, fertility, identity and sexuality.

In my spare time I enjoy reading both fiction and non-fiction, spending time with my rescue dogs, seeing live music, volunteering for  harm reduction groups, hiking and finding new places to explore. I love learning new things, and I am always looking for something new to take on.

I am available for teletherapy.

I accept Aetna, Cigna, & IBX insurances.
