LSW | Licensed Social Worker (In supervision toward clinical licensure)

I believe that therapy is a way to process current feelings, as well as gain insight and empowerment through reflection on the past. It is a place to explore, uncover, and transform the various emotional wounds, difficult thought patterns, or unwanted behaviors that may have resulted from both personal and structural events. Sometimes difficult emotions seem linked to an obvious event, or series of events. Other times, the root of pain is more mysterious. I strive to provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment where we can think together about the challenges in your life, as well as the strengths and coping skills that have brought you to this moment.

I am a White, queer, cis-female, clinically trained social worker with a background in the arts and education. My approach is relational, psychodynamic, client-centered, and trauma-informed. In practice this means that I believe your relationships with people as well as larger systems and institutions in your past are important to explore. My role is to help you untangle the ways these relationships and events have impacted your sense of self. I hope to help you see your strengths, as well as gain perspective, insight, and the ability to identify ideas about yourself that may be unhelpful or no longer serve you well. As a part of our journey together I may use a range of modalities including narrative therapy, DBT, CBT, or mindfulness-based practices.

I have experience working with clients navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, sexual indentity, gender identity, and life transitions. I have worked extensively with survivors of sexual trauma and intimate partner violence. I am interested in working with a range of clients including those exploring childhood trauma, disrupted attachments, grief or loss, social justice concerns, family issues, LGBTQIA issues, those experiencing peri- or post-natal concerns, and interpersonal relationship difficulties.

I know it can feel difficult to share the details of your life with a new person. My goal is to come to our work together with openness, honesty, empathy, and genuine curiosity that over time builds trust. I believe it is a privilege to get to hear your stories and share in your healing. Please reach out if you feel we would be a good match.

I accept Aetna, Cigna, & United/Optum Insurances.
