We, as human beings, encounter so many challenges in our lives.  Sometimes, the feelings we experience are so overwhelming that they can affect how we think, how we behave, and how we interact with others.  My main goal is to create a safe space for you, where you can share your story, allowing you the space where you can feel heard and validated. Once I have had the privilege of hearing your story, we can collaboratively work together in helping you to feel empowered in achieving your dreams, your goals, and your aspirations.

My main therapeutic approaches that I use are person-centered therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), where I strive in fostering an authentic connection with you, and then helping you recognize how unhelpful thoughts can yield emotions and behaviors that prevent us from growing.  We can break this cycle by replacing these unhelpful thoughts with more helpful ones, allowing you to feel more confident in yourself.  One of the ways we do this is by learning of our triggers and then finding coping skills that assist you in navigating your life.  I also utilize Acceptance and Commitment theory (ACT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help you acknowledge your unique perspective and how to maintain positivity within your life.  By discovering your strengths, we can use them to overcome the challenges you experience in your life.

Having graduated with a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), I have had the privilege of working with a diverse number of clients struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, life transitions, grief and loss, and intergenerational and intercultural issues.  I have a special interest in working with individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community.  As a gay man of color raised within a Muslim household, I possess the unique perspective of the challenges LGBTQIA+ individuals face, and also helping to foster awareness of how faith and queerness can co-exist.

You’ve made the first step by considering therapy, and I want you to know that I recognize it must not be easy.  But I believe that by working together, we can help you build the next chapter in your story, one that is more positive and hopeful.

I accept Aetna & Cigna Insurances.
