Willie (Will) Newton IV, LPC
LPC | Licensed Professional Counselor
Hey! My name is Will; I'm from Philadelphia, born and raised, playgrounds and barbershops are where I spent most of my days. I went to Temple University for My Masters and I have my LPC for the state of Pa. I've wanted to provide therapy before I fully understood what the concept was. I have always wanted to know who is the real person behind the person we present to others?
Long story short, I know there are multiple sides to every story. I am not here to judge at all. Given the opportunity, I can understand every side, every perspective and every argument. I am not here to take sides; I want to ensure everyone overstands each point of view, like I do. If you need to cry, cry! if you need to vent, vent; if you want to make a difference, I ask that you be up front, transparent, and honest, with me. Think of me like a lawyer, a confidant, a consigliere, or a diary. I am here to listen empathetically and I will challenge you (respectfully) when you contradict, invalidate, discredit, or ignore yourself.
My goal is to engage you at your most vulnerable and honest self by sharing what occurs in your life, thoughts, and struggles. When we are speaking, you will have no reason to fear judgment or shame. My goal is to be present, with warmth and unconditional respect. I aim to understand your perspective and support you in accomplishing your goals.
I have experience working with kids as young as 7 all the way up to adults and elders. Our sessions will feel like natural conversations in which we will work together to explore, learn and grow. Through gentle and accountable questions, psychoeducation and skills development I will help you become the best version of yourself. I love working with clients who are new to therapy or whom may be hesitant, especially if they've had negative therapeutic experiences in the past. Together we will work to repair those experiences so you are able to utilize therapy to its fullest and manage the symptoms that are affecting your day to day life.
To avoid giving you an alphabet soup, I generally borrow pieces from all theoretical orientations to provide the best support for the particular concern. I work hard to be able to summarize concepts effectively and make therapy easy and accessible for everyone.
...In case you like alphabet soup, I primarily utilize a combination salad of ABA, CBT, SFBT, PCT, REBT, and DBT. I also ask that you be honest with me. Please! Let me know what you like and let me know when you disagree with my reflections of your feelings!! You can never hurt my feelings!! I only care about your growth and development. Be honest with me and I'll be the best therapist I can be for you!!
