Reclaiming Self Through Art: An Art Therapy Group for Survivors of Relational Trauma

Wednesdays, 5:00-6:30pm, Virtual

Relational trauma—including gaslighting, manipulation, intimate partner violence, and attachment wounds—can profoundly shape our sense of self, identity, and ability to trust our own experiences. Over time, these experiences can leave us feeling disconnected from our emotions, creativity, values, and inner voice.

This art therapy group offers a supportive, nonjudgmental space for survivors to explore healing through creativity, self-expression, and connection. Participants will engage in a series of distinct but connected creative experiences designed to support self-discovery, emotional awareness, and the rebuilding of self-trust.

Through art-making, reflection, psychoeducation, and group discussion, members will explore themes such as identity, emotions, personal narrative, intuition, and resilience. Activities may include creative exercises that explore the connection between color and emotion, opportunities to reflect on the stories we tell ourselves about who we are, and experiences that foster reconnection with personal values and an internal sense of direction.

Together, participants will deepen their understanding of how relational trauma has influenced their relationship with themselves while developing greater self-compassion, self-awareness, and confidence in their own perceptions, feelings, and values. Creativity becomes a vehicle for exploring personal narratives, reconnecting with one's authentic self, and cultivating a healthier and more empowered sense of identity.

No artistic experience is required. The focus is not on creating perfect artwork, but on using creativity as a tool for reflection, healing, and reclaiming a healthier and more authentic sense of self
