“Then I realized something. I was keeping my old wounds fresh and open, as evidence for a trial that would never come…. I didn’t want to let the old wounds heal, because — if they did — then I wouldn’t have fresh evidence, and nobody would believe how much I had suffered…. I was keeping my old wounds open for no good reason at all, when all those wounds really wanted was to be allowed to heal.”  Mark Nepo

I’m passionate about working with clients who feel they are “too much,” “hopeless,” or “broken” and holding on to emotional wounds that don’t seem to heal or patterns that don’t serve them. My ideal client is one who feels hopeless due to their intense struggle with mental illness but is willing to give therapy a try. I find myself particularly energized by working with adolescents and adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD and/or PTSD. In particular, I have significant experience working with survivors of domestic violence or intimate partner violence. I also have worked with adults with chronic illness and/or chronic pain. My innate warmth, compassion, humor, and adaptability enable me to build meaningful connections with clients who often struggle to connect with others.

I view successful therapy as therapy that works for you as an individual. My approach as a therapist borrows from my experience as a former educator for immigrant, migrant, and newly resettled students: I want you to leave your therapy session feeling as though you’re coming away with a new skill, different perspective, or deeper level of understanding. I utilize an eclectic blend of evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to best fit your therapy goals. We will work on what you want to work on- if you don’t want to go into trauma, tell me and we won’t touch it! I tend to do well with clients who want to change their lives through practical action and deep reflection on the patterns that got you here. Ultimately, I believe you are the expert of your life; I am simply a guide to support you on the journey to living a life aligned with your values not your fears.
