Embodiment: A Body Image Group
Wednesdays, 5-6pm, Virtual
Join us as we explore the relationships we have with our bodies and build an embodiment practice to support healing our body and self image. This group is a closed group that is separated into 3 phases.
During the first phase, we will explore individual narratives to “body image,” as well as the differences between body positivity, body neutrality, body compassion, and liberation. We will explore barriers to embodiment including socio-economic status, fear, genetics, internalized shame, societal myths/beliefs, stigmas, trauma, consistent invalidation, sports, chronic health issues, religion, not identifying with your body, etc.
In the 2nd Phase, we will practice building safety in vulnerability and using our bodies as a resource to move away from disconnection, fear, body hate, and control. We will unpack cognitive distortions, learn skills in emotion regulation, and explore mindfulness & embodiment practices as ways to move towards connection. Using a Health At Every Size (HAES) Framework, we will explore de-coupling our self worth from size and feeling liberated from oppressive systems to truly live in your body.
In Phase 3, we will revisit our barriers from Phase 1 and utilize ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy) to bring individualized values into creating new narratives about body image. There will be celebration and connection with one another.
This group accepts Aetna, Cigna, Highmark, United / Optum, Quest, IBX, & Private Pay. The private pay rate is $65/session.
