RECLAIMING FOOD, BODY, AND SELF

A 12-Week Eating Disorder Recovery Skills Group

Recovery from an eating disorder involves more than changing eating behaviors. It also involves learning to understand the eating disorder’s patterns, respond to difficult emotions, develop flexibility, and reconnect with yourself beyond the disorder.

Reclaiming Food, Body & Self is a 12-week, skills-based therapy group designed to support individuals who are working toward eating disorder recovery. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Intuitive Eating principles, the group will provide a supportive space to build practical skills while exploring the thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and experiences that can maintain eating disorder patterns.

Throughout the group, participants will learn to:

- Better understand the function of eating disorder thoughts and behaviors

- Identify triggers, vulnerabilities, and patterns that contribute to eating disorder cycles

- Develop strategies for navigating distress, urges, and difficult emotions

- Challenge rigid food rules and practice greater cognitive flexibility

- Build mindfulness and nonjudgmental awareness

- Reconnect with hunger, fullness, and other internal bodily cues, as clinically appropriate

- Explore body neutrality and develop a more compassionate relationship with the body

- Clarify personal values and strengthen an identity beyond the eating disorder

- Create an individualized plan for maintaining progress and responding to future challenges

The group will incorporate discussion, experiential exercises, mindfulness practices, and practical skills that participants can apply between sessions. While the group will offer education and support, it is not intended to replace individualized eating disorder treatment, nutritional care, or medical monitoring when

We accept Aetna, Cigna, Highmark, United / Optum, IBX, & Private Pay. The private pay rate is $65/session.
